Register of Chemical Substances and Chemical Preparations

National data base of chemicals include information from the reports of producers and importers about chemical substances and chemical preparations occurring on the Latvian market.

Information from importers and producers:

  • Name of the substance/preparation on the market, if imported or produced 100 kg per year or more, but if substances is classified as very toxic, toxic or carcinogenic, mutagenic or reprotoxic categories 1 and 2 - then already from 10 kg per year and more;
  • Name of the substance according to IUPAC, CAS and EC numbers;
  • Composition of the preparation incl. names of the substances, CAS and EC numbers and full composition;
  • Volumes of substances/preparations produced and/or imported;
  • Classification and labelling of the substances and preparations;
  • Combined Nomenclature (CN) number, if substance and/or preparation is imported;
  • Classification for transport of dangerous goods (ADR or RID);
  • Field of application/use (corresponding NACE codes);
  • Availability of the Safety Data Sheet.

Latvian Environment Agency examines all the reports' entries and enters information in the data base. The data on single companies are confidential, except following information: address, type of activity, amount of employees, types of production. All information from report is limited available. Some parts of the data base are available to:

  • Environmental State Inspectorate;
  • State Sanitary Inspectorate;
  • State Labour Inspectorate;
  • State Firefighting and Rescue Service;
  • Poison Information Centre.
